The Forum module is the hub of the website. It is the place to find both help and answers to FAQ (Frequently asked questions). There is a section for guests to ask questions without having to register. Guests can also read any of the other sections of the forum. Members can start new topics or reply to existing posts. If you need information about how any aspect of this website works, this is the place to visit. Clicking on Help in any page will take you to the forum. |
The Classifieds module enables you to list items at a fixed price. Buyers can use a Buy-it-Now facility to purchase an item immediately using PayPal, without ever having to contact the seller. Everyone gets their own free store which they can design any way they wish. You don't have to use your store to sell items, but it remains there ready, as long as you are registered. Your account is initially, automatically, preloaded with $5. To list an item, with no extra features, costs 10 cents. This enables anyone to list up to 50 items for free. An item can initially be listed for up to 60 days. If it doesn't sell, you can re-list the item for up to another 60 days. You can re-list as many times as you like at no additional cost. When your account balance reaches $0, you can add funds as required using PayPal, bank deposit, bank cheque or money order. Secure, SSL protection can be turned on or off on any page. |
The Auction module is designed to be as simple to use as possible and uses secure, SSL protection. There are no fees to sell, buy or belong in the auctions. We rely purely on voluntary donations from satisfied customers and banner sponsorship to cover our costs. Listings can include a Buy-it-Now option and can be set to automatically re-list until the item is sold. There are no checkouts and it is left to mutual agreement between the seller and the buyer how they finalize their transaction. We encourage the use of the Moneybooker's escrow service to protect high cost transactions. We never collect any financial details and the only personal information available to members is your postcode. In the unfortunate case where a dispute arises, all your contact information can be released to the other party, upon the Admin's discretion. |

Oz Bidder is a modular website, with the Forum, Classifieds and Auction
modules being totally independent of each other. Visitors can browse any
of the modules, but you need to register for each one individually to
participate.
The reason the site has been designed that way is twofold. Firstly, no one piece of software can do all three jobs with the power and facilities each module has. Secondly, a malfunction in one module does not bring down the entire website and can be repaired while the other modules continue working perfectly.
